Is There A Risk Of Scarring after cosmetic surgery?
Any kind of procedure where an incision needs to be made carries a risk of scarring. However, a better question might be ‘Will the scarring be visible?’ During a cosmetic surgery procedure, the patient undergoing it is doing so to improve themselves aesthetically and therefore it is paramount that the surgeon tries to keep scarring to a minimum.

This is why the location of the incision is carefully considered; in many cases being made in the natural creases of the skin or in other locations where the scars will not be noticed.

However, depending on the individual and the cosmetic surgery procedure, scars do tend to fade with time and it is important that certain steps are taken to make sure this occurs. Eventually, they could fade so much that they are hardly noticeable. To ensure that this occurs experts advise patients to avoid the scars coming into contact with direct sunlight.

If the patient allows sunlight to come into contact with the scars, particularly without protection from a sun block, they risk the scars not fading (or they may fade more slowly than they would otherwise).
